SUMMIT, Ky. — There were some good times, there were some bad times.
But there were more good times.
The South Point Lady Pointers got enough good times to beat the Boyd County Lady Lions 63-54 on Saturday.
“We had stretches where we played really well, and we had stretches we didn’t play so well,” said Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams.
“But we stuck together and played well at the end and hit some foul shots.”
Ashley Goodall and Jalynn Bradburn scored six points each in the first quarter as the Lady Pointers went up 16-9, but the Lions’ Catie Wamsley hit a 3-pointer from beyond halfcourt at the buzzer to make it 16-12.
All five South Point starters scored in the second quarter as the Lady Pointers pulled away to a 32-19 halftime lead.
Bradburn put in eight points including 4-of-4 from the line in the third quarter as the Lady Pointers held to a 49-37 lead.
South Point connected on 10 free throws in the fourth quarter — four by Tinesha Taylor over the final minute — to seal the win.
Bradburn led the Pointers with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Ericka Leighty had 11 points and nine rebounds and Goodall scored 12.
