Lady Raiders use fourth quarter to pull away from Fairland

The River Valley Lady Raiders used a strong fourth quarter to pull away from the Fairland Lady Dragons 57-45 Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Fairland trailed just 35-31 after three quarters, but the Lady Raiders converted 10-of-16 free throws as they outscored the Lady Dragons 22-14 in the fourth quarter.

Mackenzie Rucker had five points in the first quarter as Fairland played River Valley even at 12-12.

Jenna Ward had five points including a 3-pointer in the second quarter as River Valley took a 22-19 halftime lead.

Emily McMaster scored five points in the third quarter but the Lady Raiders used balanced scoring to add a point to their lead.

Rucker scored six points and McMaster five in the fourth quarter, but Brooke Marcum had seven points and Kelsey Sands six as River Valley began to pull away.

McMaster led Fairland with 16 points and six rebounds. Rucker had 11 points and Lauren Phillips grabbed 12 rebounds.

Ruff scored 13, Marcum 11 and Ward 10 for River Valley, now 8 -2 and 2-1 in the OVC
