For the fourth consecutive year, the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization will host a riverboat cruise on the Ohio River.
However, this year the cruise will be an autumn venture, hence the name Southern Autumn Night, Rollin On The River. The event will be Sept. 26.
As in past years the Cincinnati Belle excursion will feature a five-star buffet and casino-style entertainment, CAO executive assistant Joan Terry said. But the later date will allow for, hopefully, cooler, more pleasant weather.
Terry said the proceeds will benefit various CAO programs. The river cruise will also give area residents a chance to unwind on a lei
surely round-trip cruise from Ironton to the Greenup, Ky., locks and dam.
“People are looking for things to do locally,” Terry said. “This is a win-win situation for everyone.”
The $2,000 gold sponsors will receive table seating for eight guests with the entity’s name or logo advertised on the back of tickets and advertising signage aboard the boat.
The $1,500 silver sponsors will receive table seating for eight guests and advertising signage on the boat.
Tables for 10 are available for $1,250 and tables for eight are available for $1,000. Individual tickets for general seating are available for $100.
“We encourage people to reserve a table as quickly as possible because there are a limited number of tables available,” Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District Director Dan Palmer said. The solid waste district is part of the CAO.
Those who wish to sponsor the event or purchase tickets should contact Terry by Sept. 1 at (740) 532-3534.
