SOUTH SHORE, Ky. — The St. Joseph Flyers did their imitation of the industrial age.

The Flyers parlayed seven walks, four errors and just three hits to beat the Harvest Christian Warriors 4-1 Tuesday.

“We took advantage and moved people around and manufactured some runs,” said Flyers coach Greg Bryant.

“We hit the ball at them all night long and they kept making plays. Our pitchers worked their way out of jams and we made some good defensive plays.”

After Harvest Christian took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an unearned run, the Flyers tied the game in the third.

Levi Hopkins walked, moved to third base on a passed ball and wild pitch, and scored when Caleb Blackburn hit a sacrifice fly.

St. Joseph took the lead with two runs in the fifth as they got all three of their hits.

Pat Gagai singled, stole second, and Blackburn singled to put runners on the corners. After Blackburn stole second, Chad Harvey had a two-run double.

The Flyers added an insurance run in the sixth.

Hopkins walked, Payton Blair had a sacrifice bunt, and Gagai and Blackburn each reached on errors as pinch-runner Anthony Whaley scored.

The Flyers host Western on Thursday.
