Police arrest Ironton man
The Ironton Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a robbery Monday at the University Mart.
Detective Chris Bowman of IPD said Raymond Brown, 35, of State Route 243, Ironton, was arrested just minutes after the robbery occurred around 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Brown was allegedly armed with a knife at the time of the robbery and when he was apprehended. Police got some help from a bystander who chased the suspect for a time and was able to give them a description of him, Bowman said.
The man was found running on the street from the scene, the detective said.
“We sure appreciate the assistance from the bystander who chased him and gave a description of him,” Bowman said.
The incident was the third time the University Mart had been robbed in about a month. The store was also robbed Friday morning and also on June 28. Police arrested another man in connection with the June 28 robbery.
Bowman said Brown is a suspect in Friday’s robbery.
