Carl Emerson Dean, 83, of Ironton, died Friday, July 22, 2011.
The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 29, 1927, a son of the late William and Martha Cordle Dean. He was the husband of the late Edna Wolfe Dean.
He attended Elizabeth Township schools and was a member of the Ironton First Church of the Nazarene. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was retired as a pipe fitter from Ashland Oil after 42 years of service. After retirement he worked for Habitat for Humanity. He attended the Ironton Senior Center and went on many work and witness trips here and overseas where he built schools and churches. He was recently voted Senior Citizen Of The Year.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
He is survived by three sons, William Dean, Robert Dean and Richard Dean, all of Columbus; two daughters,Theresa Dean of Ironton and Damita Brammer of Johnstown; five grandsons; three granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
