IHS Varsity Singers to present concert
IRONTON — The Ironton High School Varsity Singers will perform its annual Outdoor Spring Showcase on Friday, May 22 on the lawn of IHS Delaware Campus.
The pre-show is at 6:30 p.m. with the showcase at 7 p.m.
In case of rain, the show will be in the gym.
The event is free.
W.Va. pipeline builder announces loss
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Pipeline and natural gas storage builder Energy Services of America says it lost money in the second quarter of fiscal 2009 because customers delayed projects due to the economy.
Huntington-based Energy Services said Thursday it lost $2.86 million, or 24 cents per share, in the quarter that ended March 31. Energy Services earned $184,780, or 1 cent per share, in the same period a year earlier.
Celebrate Recovery to meet Thursdays
IRONTON — Celebrate Recovery, a faith-based program to help people with “hurts, habits and hang-ups” will meet at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday night at Sharon Baptist 2010 S. Fifth St. in Ironton.
OUS scholarship ceremony Sunday
IRONTON — Ohio University Southern will host its annual Scholarship Ceremony on Sunday, at 2 p.m. in the Bowman Auditorium in the Collins Building in Ironton.
More than 200 students will receive more than $300,000 in scholarship funds to attend the university this fall.
Hospice to host tennis tournament
ASHLAND, Ky. — The 7th Annual Community Hospice Tennis Tournament is scheduled for Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 14, at the Ashland Tennis Center. Registrations will be accepted until Tuesday, June 9 at noon.
Entry fees are $20 per event per player with a three event limit. All registrants will receive a free T-shirt and awards will be presented to the winners and finalists in each event. A player cookout, hosted by MTS, is scheduled for noon on Saturday at the Tennis Center.
All matches will be played at the Ashland Tennis Center. Friday matches will begin at 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday matches begin at 8:00 a.m.
All proceeds from the tournament benefit the programs and services of Community Hospice.
