NELSONVILLE — The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is pleased to announce 2009 scholarship recipients, including Lawrence County student Caleb Blackburn.
This year, FAO distributed 35 scholarships throughout Appalachian Ohio, awarding over $48,000 in support of students academic endeavors.
This includes St. Joseph Central High School student, Caleb Blackburn, recipient of a Wayne White Scholarship.
Established to honor the legacy of the Ohio Appalachian Center for Higher Education founder, Wayne F. White, the scholarship provides support to the educational pursuits of graduating high school seniors.
“The Foundation is happy to partner with our donors to help eliminate barriers to post secondary pursuits for students throughout Appalachian Ohio.” said Cara Dingus Brook, FAO President and CEO.
“Students in this region have aspirations toward education beyond high school, yet many do not have access to resources needed to pursue their dreams.
FAO is committed to increasing educational opportunities for our region’s youth.”
