Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A man and a woman from Michigan are facing felony charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized drugs allegedly found in their vehicle during a traffic stop.
Patricia Blackburn, 44, of Lincoln Park, and Kevin McDonald, 46, of Rockwood, were arrested around 3:30 a.m. Friday at the 18-mile post of U.S. 52, according to a press release from the highway patrol.
Troopers saw the driver allegedly try to discard contraband during the course of the investigation, according to the release. Officers seized 12 unit doses of heroin, 275 Alprazolam tablets and Suboxone, the release states.
The two are charged with drug possession and trafficking. The pair had an initial appearance Friday in Lawrence County Municipal Court where they were appointed attorneys. Bond was set at $20,000 cash or surety in each case. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for July 1.
