Guilty pleas entered on drug, theft charges

An Ironton man charged with drug possession and a South Point man facing a theft charge were among those entering guilty pleas Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Steven F. Easterling, 34, of 2102 S. Eighth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a felony, and one count of possession of drugs, a misdemeanor.

Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced him to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP), fined him $1,250 and suspended his driver’s license six months for the felony and sentenced him to 180 days in jail, but suspended the sentence. If Easterling fails to abide by the terms of his probation he could go to prison for 11 months.

Kathleen Pinkerman Marshall, 45, of Ashland, Ky., pleaded guilty to a felony count of possession of crack cocaine and a misdemeanor count of theft.

For the felony drug charge, Bowling ordered her to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center followed by four years CCS/ISP. He also fined her $2,500 and suspended her driver’s license for six months. For the misdemeanor theft charge, Bowling sentenced her to 180 days in jail but suspended the sentence.

Joshua D. Scott, 24, of 200 Township Road 346, South Point, pleaded guilty on a bill of information to one count of grand theft.

Bowling ordered him to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center followed by four years CCS/ISP. If he fails to abide by the terms of his probation, Scott could be sent to prison for three years. By pleading guilty on a bill of information, Scott avoids having his case heard by either a grand jury or common pleas jury, admits his guilt and proceeds to punishment.
