The Tackett’s Body Shop, after three years of preparation, have finally moved into its new location at 410 S. Second Street.
The location, which features a large 15 to 20 car garage and a customer friendly waiting room, has both made it easier to find and greatly expanded the work area.
Roy Tackett, who has been in the business 34 years, and his wife Jane Tackett have owned the body shop for the last 17 years.

Roy said he has painted refrigerators, doors and stoves in the past. He said his most common custom jobs are on motorcycles, one of which he painted a waving American flag that he was particularly proud of.
“I love it,” Roy said. “That’s probably what I like more than anything — the custom work.”
Yet despite the unique work Tackett offers his customers, he said it was hard to maintain and get new customers because the distant location of the shop. This will never be an issue again.
“Now that we’re in town everything is so much more convenient,” Jane said. She also said that business has gone up greatly since moving to the new location.
Roy will help continuing to make business rise by offering a full service shop that guarantees customer satisfaction.
“When your car comes in and it’s done, it’s completely done,” he said, emphasizing that a customer will not have to take the car to multiple shops. “We try to really take care of the customer. That’s what is really all about: full service and making it as convenient as possible.”
