Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies are continuing their investigation into two armed robberies reported late last week.

Detective Aaron Bollinger said the two incidents are not related to each other.

In the first incident, a woman told deputies she was driving on County Road 55, Middle Leatherwood Road in Perry Township Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 p.m. when she came upon three men wearing dark clothing and masks standing in the middle of the road.

The three men, carrying guns, demanded money and then fled on foot into the woods.

The woman was not harmed. The incident was not reported to the sheriff’s office until nearly 11 a.m. the next day.

Also this past Saturday, a family on Charley Creek Road told deputies approximately six men wearing dark clothing and masks came into their home, held them at gun point, handcuffed and assaulted one man at the home and demanded money. They left with two wallets containing little or no cash and a firearm.

The suspects left in two vehicles, a newer, shiny black sport utility vehicle and a grey 1990s model Pontiac. One or both of the cars may have had West Virginia tags.
