LUCASVILLE — Lucasville Valley had an offensive explosion in a 45-6 rout of the South Point Pointers.

Valley’s offense was led by quarterback Zach Utley who threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns.

“We had good intensity to start the game forcing them to punt, but Lucasville Valley had a good scheme tonight,” South Point coach Doug Shilot said. “(Lucasville Valley) was able to find some things and exploited us with those plays.”

After both teams traded punts to open the game, Valley’s Tyler Keller set the Indians up at the South Point 37-yard line after a 24-yard punt return. Four plays later, David Shultz found the end zone from 5 yards out. Evan Richard added the extra-point and the score was 7-0 with 4:08 to go in the first.

After a South Point punt, Valley extended the lead to 14-0 when Utley found Zach Bukiewicz who weaved his way through the South Point defense for a 62-yard touchdown with 0:49 to go in the first.

After a 49-yard South Point punt, the Indians started the next drive at their own 19-yard line. Ten plays later, Utley threw his second touchdown pass of the half when he found Blake Yates on a screen pass and Yates broke several tackles on his way to a 29-yard score.

The conversion failed and the score was 20-0 with 5:41 to go in the half. The drive covered 81-yards in 10-plays.

The Valley defense would again force a South Point punt, and this time the Indians would get a quick score. On the first play, Yates found the end zone from 45-yards out. Richard added the extra-point, and the halftime score was 27-0.

South Point (0-5) got its only score of the night on a 7-yard run by Kyle Dickess. Dickess finished 3 of 5 passing for 61 yards and added 38 yards rushing.

Doug Dillon finished with 41 yards on nine carries for the Pointers.
