Betty Hensley

Betty Bishop Hensley, 83, of Ironton, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at Heartland Nursing Home in South Point. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 8, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Catherine Bodmer Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Hensley, who passed away Jan. 26, 2005.

Mrs. Hensley was a 1945 graduate of Ironton High School and retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Service July 1, 1987. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her son Bernie G. Hensley of Ironton and his fiancée, Bambi Osborne; her daughter, Cathy L. Bolner, of Ironton; a grandson, Chris L. Bolner of Ironton; two granddaughters, Carrie N. and Chip Hensley Patton of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. and Madison N. Hensley of Ironton; a great granddaughter, Kaylee Hensley of White Sulphur Springs; a great grandson, Clayton Patton of White Sulphur Springs; a special nephew, James Blangy of Arizona; a special family friend, Robbie Curnell of Ironton; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Eleanor (Moult) Blagg, Frances (Kelly) Blangy, Norma (Thurman) Moore, Bonnie (William) Watson; two brothers, George (Burt) Bishop, Charles (Mary) Bishop; and a special nephew, Ronald L. Moore.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Pastor David Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
