Lady Pointers rally late to beat Waverly

The South Point Lady Pointers trailed by 8 points after three quarters, then exploded and outscored the Waverly Lady Tigers 26-9 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 63-44 win on Saturday.

Trailing 35-27, Molly Adams scored 11 points including 7 of 8 from the foul line to lead the comeback.

Josie Kidd had a nice quarter as she hit a 3-pointer and scored 6 points while Saratina Jackson scored 5 points and Jasmyn Jones 4 points.

Jackson hit a 3-pointer and scored 7 points and Jones had 4 points as South Point took a 14-8 first quarter lead.

Paige O’Bryant scored 6 of Waverly’s 8 points.

The Lady Tigers rallied in the second quarter to take a 19-18 halftime lead.

Caris Risner and O’Bryant had 4 points and Sadie Royster hit a 3-pointer in the rally.

Adams and Kidd had 4 points each and Peyton Williamson hit a 3-pointer.

Waverly (8-9) extended the lead to 35-27 in the third quarter as Royster hit a trey and had 7 points, O’Bryant scored 4 and Risner knocked down a triple.

Samiya Bradburn scored 6 points including a 3-pointer  for the Lady Pointers.

Adams finished with 17 points to lead South Point (9-6). Kidd scored 15, Jackson 14 and Jones added 9 to the balanced scoring.

O’Bryant scored 14, Royster 13 and Risner 12 to lead Waverly.
