Blue Angels slide past Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE — Crystal Gayle once sang “Don’t Take Me Half The Way.”
The first half belonged to Chesapeake, but the Gallipolis Blue Angels took the second half as they rallied to beat the Lady Panthers 46-32 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Loulea Walker had 10 of her 16 points and Kenya Peck scored 9 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter as Gallipolis rallied to down the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 46-32 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Gallipolis (6-9, 4-7) took an 8-5 lead in the first quarter as Mallory Petro scored 5 points as she and Chloe Bennett hit 3-pointers.
Abbey Isaacs hit a 3-pointer and Erin Hicks had a basket for Chesapeake’s scoring.
But the Lady Panthers took over in the second quarter as they outscored the Blue Angels 14-4 and led 19-12 at the half.
Isaacs nailed two more 3-pointers and scored 8 points, Ciera Nichols scored 4 points and Kate Ball added a basket to key Chesapeake’s rally.
Bennett and Peck had baskets for the Gallipolis scoring.
But the Blue Angels turned the tables in the third quarter and outscored Chesapeake 15-8 and the game was tied at 27-all.
Walker and Peck took over in the fourth quarter as Gallipolis pulled away to the win.
Isaacs scored 17 points to lead the Lady Panthers (9-6, 3-6).
