Kerns represents Lawrence County at state competition

COLUMBUS — Lawrence County’s 2024 fair queen recently represented the county in a state event.

Isabella Kerns, a senior at Ironton High School, traveled to Columbus, where she took part in the 2025 Ohio Fair Queen competition at the Ohio State Fair Convention.

Kerns, who has been involved in 4-H programs for several years, is a member of the Over Yonder 4-H Club and was the Senior Showman in the Showman of Showmen competition at the 2023 Lawrence County Fair.

Participants in the fair queen contest, which spans multiple days,  not only aspire to represent the state fair, but also promote their county fairs in interviews and speeches.

“She had a great time,” Kerns mother, Leslie, said. “She met a lot of amazing young women from around the state.”

Amber Szczerbiak, of Fayette County, was ultimately chosen as the winner of the event on Saturday, Jan 11.
