Snack Shack begins operations under new ownership
SOUTH POINT — For Maddie and Robbie Brown, it is their third time at a new locale and, for the Ironton couple, it is a homecoming.
The Browns recently purchased the Snack Shack from Barry Blankenship and, on Friday, they took over operations for the first time.
The restaurant, located at 305 Solida Rd. in South Point and serving a classic American menu, has remained open continuously, but the switch to new ownership began last week.
The lunchtime scene was crowded on Friday, as they celebrated the change.
The Browns also own and operate the Shakery (formerly the Shake Shoppe) in Ironton, as well as the Iron Diner in the Ironton City Center.
Robbie serves on the Ironton City Council and is also pastor at Be Hope Church in Ironton.
Maddie Brown said the South Point location is special to them, as they are both natives of the village. She notes that Robbie’s first job in high school and college was at the Snack Shack.
“We’re hoping to bring to South Point the same nostalgic feeling we had growing up,” she said.
Business will continue for now under the Snack Shack name, but she said, eventually, it will be called the Shakery Family Restaurant.
The restaurant is open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed on Saturdays.
