State Patrol investigating crash that killed teenager

PROCTORVILLE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a 16-year-old Proctorville girl.
Around 8:51 a.m. Wednesday, a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, driven by Madyson Cole, was traveling westbound on State Route 243 when it lost control, traveled left of center and struck a 2022 Jeep Wrangler driven by Tonya Hammond.
Kayla Pruitt, 16, of Proctorville, a passenger in the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.
The OSHP said they don’t believe Cole was impaired when the crash occurred.
This crash is still under investigation.
The OSHP was assisted at the scene by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County EMS, Proctorville Fire Department, Union Township Fire Department and the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.
