Amaryllis “Amy” Ann Rye, 91, of South Point, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 4, 1933, in Lavalette, West Virginia, daughter of the late Jay Dennis and Lyndell Richey Potter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Rye; three brothers, Junior Potter, Jack Potter and Jim Potter; and two sisters, Arbutus Parsons and Iris Lambert.
Amy is survived by two children, Vicki (Dale) Kirby and Sandra (Eric “Scoot”) Smith; one brother, Bill Potter; four grandchildren, Christy Harshberger, Brad Kirby, Zachary Smith and Benji Smith; six great-grandchildren, Avery Harshberger, Cayden Harshberger, Braelene Kirby, Colton Kirby, Ayla Smith and Myles Smith.
Amy was a loving mother, devoted to her family.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, traveling and baking.
She was a long-time faithful member of South Point First Church of the Nazarene and loved worshipping with her church family.
The funeral service will be noon Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at Wallace Family Funeral Home in South Point, with Pastors Charlie Lane and Ryan Byers officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton.
Family and friends are welcome to visit prior to the service from 11 a.m. – noon, a time for shared memories and support.
