Ironton native McKenzie Long secured her spot on Monday in the 2024 Paris Olympics Women’s 200 meter final.

Long competed in the first of three heats on Monday, placing third at 22.30. The rules for the heats on Monday allowed for the top two runners in each heat to qualify for the finals and for two additional runners with the best times outside of the top two.

Her time of 22.30 was the best time outside of the top two runners for each heat. Advancing her into the final competition on Tuesday at 3:40 EST.

The American trio of Long, Gabrielle Carter and Brittany Brown all qualified for the 200 meter final.
