Walton Blair

April 13, 1934–July 22, 2024

 

Walton Howell Blair, 90, of Coal Grove, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Harbor Healthcare of Ironton.

He was the son of the late Howell B. Blair and Flossie Lemaster Conley, born in Ashland, Kentucky, on April 13, 1934.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Gail Marie Brammer Blair on Jan. 20, 2019.

Walton lived his entire life in this area.

He was a 1952 graduate of Paul Blazer High School in Ashland and active in the ROTC program.

He was a former employee of Armco Steel for over 30 years.

He loved listening to music and taking care of his three dogs, Chloe, Sophie and Maggie.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Gamble.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Walton Howell Blair, Jr. “B.J.” (Donna) and Lisa Allen (Mike), both of Coal Grove; his grandchildren, Amber Hickman, of Conway, South Carolina, Cassandra Spencer, of Coal Grove, Nick Blair, of Ashland, Kentucky, Wesley Smallwood (Dana), of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and eight great-grandchildren, Gage, Braylen, Bronson, Evelyn, Weston, Waylon, Maisie and Milo; a special niece, Kelli Bowman (Jim); special great-niece, Emily Bowman; and special great-great nephew, James.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Harbor Healthcare of Ironton and Heartland Hospice for the care of their loved one.

Funeral service will be noon Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
