SOUTH POINT — Looks like the pitching standout can hit, too.
Western Michigan signed Fairland’s Kaylee Salyer earlier this season because of her pitching prowess. But there is another area of her game that is overlooked.
Salyer got the win as the Lady Dragons blanked the South Point Lady Pointers 14-0 on Wednesday, but she also went 1-for-4 at the plate to reach 100 career hits.
Salyer pitched a 2-hitter with 7 strikeouts and no walks as Fairland improved to 14-4 overall and 10-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Fairland needs wins against Coal Grove and Chesapeake to secure at least a share of the league title.
Ally Shepherd continued her strong hitting as she went 1-3 with a 2-run home run. Makena Black ws 2-2 with a double and 3 RBI, Hailey Smmons 1-2 with 2 RBI, Katy Bell 2-3 with an RBI, Madi McKinley 1-3 with a double and an RBI, and Katie Dehart 1-3 with an RBI.
Kaylee Stidham and Jaidyn Malone each went 1-2 for South Point (4-18, 1-12).
