ATHENS — The South Webster Jeeps were in another tight game, but this time Lady Luck didn’t smile on them.

The Jeeps had a 16-point lead early only to see the Berlin Hiland Hawks rally to tie the game and get a 48-45 win in overtime to claim the Division 4 regional title on Friday at the Ohio University Convocation Center and earn a berth in the Final Four.

South Webster (23-4) took a 12-6 first quarter lead as Eli Roberts hit a 3-pointer and sank 2 free throws while Christian White added 3 points.

Robert drained another trifecta and scored 7 points in the second quarter as the Jeeps took a 23-12 halftime lead.

The Jeeps built a 16-point lead with 5:41 left in the second quarter and led for 29:09 of the game. Hiland led for just 58 seconds with the score tied for the remaining time.

Hiland (22-6) cut a point off the lead in the third quarter to trail 31-21 as Sammy Detweiler hit a 3-pointer and scored all 9 Hiland points.

Alex Miller scored 7 points, Nick Wigton hit a pair of 3-pointers and Detweiler had a 3-pointer and scored 5 points as the Hawks outscored the Jeeps 20-10 in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime.

Roberts scored 6 points in the fourth quarter including 4-of-6 at the foul line.

Wigton and Miller combined for all 7 of Hiland’s points in overtime. Roberts sank 2 foul shots and Dylan Shupert had a basket for the Jeeps.

Roberts was the only South Webster player in double figures as he scored a game-high 24 points.

Detweiler scored 16 and Wigton 13 to lead the Hawks.
