Foul-plagued Redwomen fall to South Webster

PEDRO — Fans went to a basketball game on Thursday and a foul shooting contest broke out.
In a game that had plenty of free throws shot by both teams, the South Webster Lady Jeeps beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 55-37.
“We were short-handed to start the game being without a starter and then we got in foul trouble early and everything just kept piling up. We couldn’t catch a break,” said Rock Hill coach Eric Bailey.
The Lady Jeeps were 19-of-28 from the foul line and the Redwomen shot 21 but made only 7 as the teams combined to shoot 49 free throws.
South Webster’s Skylar Zimmerman scored 25 points that included 10-of-14 at the line. Bella Claxon was 8-of-10 at the line and scored 16 points.
Emma Scott and J’lynn Risner each scored 14 points for the Redwomen (4-5). Risner was 4-of-8 at the line and Scott 2-of-11.
Claxon scored 5 points and Bre Potters and Zimmerman 4 each as the Lady Jeeps went up 16-3 on the first quarter.
Scott hit a 3-pointer to account for Rock Hill’s scoring.
Rock Hill bounced back and cut the deficit to just 26-21 at the half as Risner had 8 points, Scott scored 7 points and Abby Schug hit a 3-pointer.
Claxon and Zimmerman each hit 3-pointers and combined for 9 points to pace South Webster.
The Lady Jeeps (8-2) outscored Rock Hill 13-5 in the third quarter to open up a 39-26 lead.
Zimmerman scored 11 points including 5-of-6 at the line as South Webster outscored Rock Hill 16-11 in the fourth quarter to get the easy win.
Risner scored 4 points, Schug hit another trifecta and Scott had a 3-pointer and a foul shot for West in the quarter.
