Bruce keys Fairland win over Redwomen

PEDRO — It was Bruce on the loose.
Kyle Bruce scored 16 of her game-high 23 points in the first half as the Fairland Lady Dragons built a big lead and went on to beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 73-25 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Besides Bruce, Bailey Russell scored 16 points and Tia Taliferro had 14 points to help make up for starter Bree Allen who did not play.
Emma Scott scored 8 and J’lynn Risner 7 to pace Rock Hill (1-2, 0-2).
Fairland settled the outcome in the first quarter by racing to a 30-7 lead.
Bruce hit a 3-pointer and scored 13 points, Taliaferro had a trey and score 7 points while Kamryn Barnitz scored 5 points including a 3-pointer for Fairland.
Scott drained a 3-pointer and score 5 of Rock Hill’s points.
Taliaferro had 5 more points in the second quarter with Addison Godby scoring 6 points as the Lady Dragons led 46-17 at the break.
Risner scored 5 points for the Redwomen.
Russell and Bruce scored 5 points each in the third quarter and the lead went to 57-25.
Russell made a triple and scored 9 of Fairland’s 16 points in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill went scoreless.
