Lady Pointers win defensive battle

CHESAPEAKE — When the South Point Lady Pointers and Chesapeake Lady Panthers meet, you can expect a defensive game.
The matchup between the two teams lived up to expectations as the Lady Pointers battled past the Lady Panthers 49-30 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Camille Hall had 4 points in the first quarter as the Lady Pointers led 7-5.
Brooklyn McComas hit a 3-pointer and Kate Ball had a basket for the Lady Panthers.
Saratina Jackson drilled a 3-pointer and scored 7 points and Hall added 4 more points as the Lady Pointers went up 20-16 at the half.
South Point was able to extend the lead to 33-22 after 3 quarters as Emma Harper hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points with Liz Ermalovich getting 4 points.
Ball and McComas hit 3-pointers to account for Chesapeake’s total.
Harper was 4-of-4 from the foul line and 7 different players scored as South Point outscored Chesapeake 15-13 in the fourth quarter.
McComas drained 2 more 3-pointers and Erin Hicks scored 3 points for the Lady Panthers.
Hall had 13 pointers, Jackson 11 and Harper 10 to pace a balanced South Point offense.
McComas led the Lady Panthers with 12 points and Ball added 7.
South Point plays at Symmes Valley on Saturday at noon.
