For the past 18 years, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironton has organized an effort toward helping those in need during the holidays.

This year, Christmas with Dignity will deliver gift cards for food to more than 200 people.

The church takes sign ups each year, encouraging those who need help to contact them, organizer Jeannine Tordiff said.

Sign ups are complete and this year’s gift cards will be delivered to recipients on Dec. 8, she said.

In the past, she said the church used to collect and deliver food, but switched to the card system for efficiency.

Tordiff said donations for the effort come from throughout the county and region, from individuals, businesses and other churches.

She said donations for the effort are collected year round in the lead up to the giveaway, and that any person or group interested in helping can contact the church at 740-532-4727 or 101 S. Sixth St, Ironton, OH 45638.
