HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Evan Ferguson is proof that quarterback is a cerebral position.
The former Coal Grove Hornets’ All-Ohio quarterback has continued to make as much noise in the classroom as he did on the field.
After transferring from West Virginia Tech to Marshall, Ferguson not only earned Conference USA All-Academic honors but was one of just five football players who received the Commissioner’s Academic Medal.
Marshall had 163 student/athletes honored on the all-academic list including 20 football players.
Student/athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better to make the honor roll. Students with a 3.75 GPA or better receive the Commissioner’s Academic Medal.
Ferguson, George Brody, Stewart Brown, Jamie Hatten and Erik Vint earned the Commissioner’s Academic medal.
Other football players on the all-academic team were James Allen, Chris Bowers, George Carpenter, Pete Culicerto, Tyson Gale, Justin Haig, Chris Jasperse, Trevor Mendelson, James Power, Anthony Scott, Eddie Sullivan, Press Taylor, Corey Tenney, DeMetrius Thompson and Tyler Warner.
