Richard Malone

Richard Paul Malone, 78, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at his residence. The Waterloo native was born March 11, 1933 the son of the late Ruel Malone and Lucy Rawlins Malone. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna Baldwin Malone who is married May 17, 1954.
Mr. Malone attended Waterloo Schools and retired from Dayton Malleable/Amcast in 1992 after 38 years. He was the Democratic Party Central Committeeman for Lawrence County and served three terms as an Elizabeth Township Trustee. He was a member of Etna Missionary Baptist Church and also attended the Cannons Creek E.U.B. Church.
Richard was the youngest of 11 children all of who preceded him in death — seven brothers, Luther, Virgil, Donald, Rulie, Ralph, Ray, and Joe Malone and three sisters, Myrtle Malone, Martha Davis and Erma Smith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law: Richa and Charlie Shepherd of Willow Wood; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Alesia Malone of Pedro; daughter and son in law, Peggy and Gary Reynolds of Kitts Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Steve Bishop of Kitts Hill; son, Roger Malone of Pedro; 10 grandchildren: Charlie Shepherd, Samantha (Justin) Taylor, Ashley Shepherd, Bridget Reynolds, Tyler Bishop, Lindsey (Randy) Wilson, Derek Malone, Mitchell Malone, Jacob Malone and Matthew Malone; three stepgrandchildren, Colleen McWharter, Rachel McWharter and Mary Beth (Jimmy) Fritz; and three great grandchildren, London Taylor, Brady Wilson and Jimmy Fritz; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Knipp officiating. Burial will follow in Slabfork Cemetery.
