Hop on over for breakfast with the Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny is making an early stop in Ironton this year, taking time to enjoy breakfast with children.
The Ironton Area Kiwanis Club is hosting Breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., April 16, at Rax on South Third Street in Ironton to raise money for scholarships and charities.
The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage and a beverage, and each child gets a free picture with the Easter Bunny that will be printed and handed out that morning.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at Ohio River Bank, Tim’s News and Novelties, Liberty Federal Savings Bank, Lawrence County Health Department and AAA Travel. Tickets may also be purchased at the door, but advanced ticket purchases are encouraged to ensure adequate food supply. Children 2 and under are admitted free of charge.
Steve Call said the money will be used to fund various Kiwanis projects.
“One of the bigger ones we have is scholarships going to a Lawrence county senior going to college,” Call said. He said the students eligible for the scholarship would be good students involved in the local community. He said other projects include working with the health department to provide diapers and formula and hygiene kits given to the local public schools.
“Most, if not all, money raised stays in Lawrence County,” Call said.
Call said this is the first time they have sponsored Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, but they have had Breakfast with Santa in past years that have been well received in the community.
Call said Rax employees will be cooking the breakfast, and Kiwanis club members will be serving.
The Ironton Area Kiwanis Club has from 16 to 20 members, but Call said they are always looking for new members.
“Someone interested in getting involved and giving back to the community,” he said. “We are looking for active participation, having an interest in the community.”
Call said the club meets Thursdays at noon at the Ironton City Center, and invites anyone interested in the Kiwanis club to attend a meeting to learn more about it. For more information about Breakfast with the Easter Bunny or about the Ironton Area Kiwanis Club, contact Steve Call at 740-533-4559.
