FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Green Bobcats didn’t waste any time.
Green erupted for 13 runs in the first inning and cruised past the Sciotoville East Tartans 16-0 in five innings Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Steve Ratcliff had a pair of two-run doubles in the uprising while T.J. McCloud had two run-scoring singles and Rob Applegate a two-run double.
“We started hitting early and got the lead and the win. Any league win is a good win,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
“I was real proud of our second group. They went in at the end of the third and top of the fourth and put (East) down 1-2-3. They played good defense and scored some runs. This was a total team effort.”
The Bobcats (2-0, 1-0) added a run in the second inning when Cody Bruce beat out an infield hit, Applegate and McCloud walked and Matt Ratcliff hit into a fielder’s choice.
The second unit scored twice in the third inning.
Bob McClain walked, Dillon Smith and Clay Applegate each reached on errors, and Kaden Sampson and Cody Timberman followed with walks to force in runs.
East pitchers issued 12 walks overall.
Colt Brammer got the win as he struck out six, walked two and allowed only two first inning singles.
Steve Ratcliff was 2-2 with four runs batted in, Matt Ratcliff was 2-3 with three RBI, McCloud 2-2 and two RBI, Rob Applegate 1-2 and two RBI, and Bruce 1-1 with an RBI.
The Bobcats hosted Manchester in a doubleheader on Saturday.
