A Chesapeake man will spend the next four years in prison for drug offenses.

Joseph Jenkins, 36, of 615 County Road 3, Chesapeake, was sentenced Wednesday during Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to four years for aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony.

Along with the prison sentence, Judge Charles Cooper also ordered Jenkins to pay a $5,000 fine and forfeit $2,121 that was in his possession at the time he was arrested. Jenkins’ driver’s license will also be suspended for one year.

In other cases:

Crawford W. Madden, 40, of 720 Leatherwood Road, Garrison, Ky., denied violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions.

Judge D. Scott Bowling scheduled a trial for March 30.

Kayla McDonald, formerly known as Kayla Rickard, 20, of 70 Township Road 1118 Apt. 9, Chesapeake, admitted violating her CCS by testing positive for illegal drugs and failing to pay restitution. Bowling sentenced Rickard to the STAR Community Justice program.

Benjamin M. Vanover, 33, of Lot 72 Private Drive 267, Proctorville, pleaded not guilty to escape, a fifth-degree felony. Vanover’s charges stem from the man allegedly not reporting to start a five-year prison sentence. Bowling set a pretrial for April 6.

Michael L. Litteral, 36, of 4803 Jennifer Place, Grove City, pleaded not guilty to two counts of complicity to trafficking in marijuana. Cooper set a pretrial for March 30.

Misty Wentz, 33, of 413 rear S. High St., Huntington, W.Va., denied violating the terms of her community-controlled sanctions.

Cooper set a trial for April 6.

Chester Daniels, 43, of Ironton, formerly of Olive Hill, Ky., pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor criminal nonsupport of a child and felony criminal nonsupport of a child. In child support cases, the State of Ohio typically files two counts – one misdemeanor and one felony – for each child.

Samuel Clark, 35, of 301 Third St. E., South Point, denied violating his CCS. Cooper set a trial for April 6.

Jennifer Sharp, formerly known as Jennifer Page, 34, of 924 ½ 13th St., Huntington, W.Va., admitted violating the terms of her community-controlled sanctions. Cooper sentenced Sharp to eight months in prison with credit for time served.

Rebecca Newcomb, 32, of 366 Township Road 267, Waterloo, pleaded guilty to possession of criminal tools.

Bowling sentenced Newcomb to a six-month suspended jail sentence and three years of probation.

Jerry R. Frye, 50, of 2947 County Road 12, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to theft of a firearm, a third-degree felony. Bowling sentenced Frye to four years of CCS that includes successfully completing the STAR Community Justice program.
