Medicines, cash stolen in Proctorville

PROCTORVILLE — A variety of prescription drugs were reported taken from the home of a Proctorville resident earlier this month.
Viola Gayle Harless of 402 rear Elizabeth St. reported that there was a burglary at her home at approximately 6:10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.
“She had returned home that evening to find that her house had been broken into,” the Proctorville police report stated. “Someone had moved multiple items in her home and had taken her prescribed medications as well as groceries from her kitchens.”
Prescriptions taken were 30 tablets of Januvia, 30 tables of Simvastatin, 40 tablets of Propoxyphen-APAP and three tablets of Prevacid. There was no monetary value for the medications listed on the report. There were no suspects named at the time. Patrolman Kodi Pizelli investigated the incident.
Carl Chapman of 306 Elizabeth St., reported that $200 in cash was taken at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Derek Chapman of the same address was listed on the report as the suspect.
He was arrested and charged with a first-degree misdemeanor. Chapman posted bond and was scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in Lawrence County Municipal Court Monday. Proctorville Police Chief Bill Murphy investigated.
