ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP — The trailer of a truck overturned on State Route 93 Friday, spilling 25 tons of coal onto the highway and into two residents’ yards.
It happened around 2 p.m. at the nine-mile marker near the 522 junction.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Elizabeth and Upper Township fire departments responded to the accident.
The coal truck belonged to a company out of Oak Hill, Chris Fisher and Sons. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Dale Waugh, chief of the Elizabeth Township Fire Department, said the driver may have taken a curve to fast, causing the trailer to overturn.
