The St. Joseph Female Flyers made enough shots to take a first half lead, but the shots stopped falling in the second half as the Rose Hill Lady Royals came back to post a 44-24 win Friday.

“We missed too many shots under the basket. We just couldn’t hold on at the end,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.

Becca Patrick scored 11 points while Katie Hacker and Molly Miller had six each for the Female Flyers who finished 6-6 after not competing last season.

Rose Hill (8-16) was led by Alana Markins who scored 18 points — 12 in the fourth quarter and 16 in the second half. Myriah Porter added 13.

St. Joseph trailed 9-4 after the first quarter but rallied to take a 13-12 halftime lead as Goebel scored six points.

The Lady Royals came back in the third quarter to outscore the Flyers 10-5 and take a 22-18 lead. Then came the pivotal fourth quarter as Rose Hill outscored St. Joseph 22-6.
