To be off duty for 5 days without pay
The Symmes Valley Board of Education voted to suspend a bus driver who allegedly discussed inappropriate material with a 16 year-old student.
The board scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday night to go over evidence and vote on whether disciplinary action was needed.
With four of the five board members present at the meeting, all four members voted to suspend the driver for five days without pay, said superintendent Jeff Saunders. Member Kim Turner was out of town and could not attend the meeting.
The driver has been an employee for several years. Saunders said the employee had nothing on file to indicate previous offenses.
Saunders said he learned about the incident Jan. 19, and it happened earlier that month. He said the school board received an anonymous tip from a parent and the investigation went from there.
