Worker taken to hospital after accident: Crew had been working on roof at Hills Plaza

A worker was taken to the hospital following an accident at The Hills shopping plaza in Ironton on Monday.
According to Capt. Jeff Joseph of the Ironton Fire Department, crews responded to the scene at about 12:07 p.m. after a worker fell from the roof of the old Hills Department Store building.
He said the crew had been working the past few weeks on the shopping center’s roof, starting at Pick ‘n Save and working their way across the complex’s roof tops.
Joseph said metal gave way and man fell inside to the store below.
The worker was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington.
No name or word of his condition was available.
The fire department, Lawrence County EMS and Ironton police responded to the call.
