Danny Russell

May 26, 1947–Aug. 13, 2019

Danny Gordon Russell, 72, formerly of Ironton, died Aug. 13, 2019, at the Stuart Meyer Hospice center in Palm Coast, Florida.

He was born May 26, 1947, in Huntington, West Virginia. He graduated from Ironton High School in 1968, where he joined the Ohio National Guard and worked at Armco Steel, until his retirement in 1989. He then moved to Florida.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Lorane, a brother, John, and a sister, Terri, all of Ironton; and a son, Danny Ray, of North Carolina.

He is survived by son, Anthony, of Tennessee; daughter, Tracey, of Kentucky, five grandchildren; and sister, Bobbi, of Florida.

There were no services, per his request.

Olive Kelley

May 13, 1929– Jan. 17, 2020

Olive L. McCall Kelley, 90, of Ironton, passed away on Jan. 17, 2020, at her residence. She was born May 13, 1929, the daughter of the late William D. and Olive Davisson McCall.

Mrs. Kelley was a 1947 graduate of Hanging Rock High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in education from Ohio University. She retired from Rock Hill Elementary #2 after more than 40 years of service. Olive enjoyed arts and crafts and helping out in her sister’s upholstery business. She volunteered for Americorps and loved to travel.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, James Perry Kelley; six brothers; and one sister.

Olive is survived by a daughter, Carol Kelley Miller Hanshaw, of Ironton; a sister, June McCall Bowman Rowe, of Haverhill; two grandsons, Christian Miller, of Chillicothe, and David Miller, of Ironton; a granddaughter, Samantha Razem, of Columbus; one great-grandson, whom she raised like her son, Zachary Miller, of Ironton; two great-granddaughters, Isabelle Razem and Cara Razem, both of Columbus.

There will be no services and Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, is honored to be assisting the family with Mrs. Kelley’s arrangements.

William Taylor

Bill Taylor, of Wurtland, Kentucky, died Jan. 16, 2020, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, after an extended illness.

He is survived by his wife, Kitty; and son, Ronnie Schillo, of Wurtland, Kentucky; one daughter, Kate Brewers (Adam), of Vinton; brothers, Randy Taylor, of Ironton, Terry Taylor, of Portsmouth, and Bryan Taylor, of Vinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Mae and Ernest (Jake) Taylor; brother, John Taylor; and sister, Pam Littlejohn.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date at the family’s convenience.

Timothy Hodges

Jan. 1, 1962– Jan. 18, 2020

Timothy Ray Hodges, 58, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020.

Tim was born Jan. 1, 1962, the oldest son of the late Danny and Helen Hodges.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marie Goldcamp-Hodges. Tim is also survived by his pride and joy, his four sons, Tyler (Molly) Hodges, of Fairlawn; Tanner Hodges, of Lexington; Daniel Hodges, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; and Mark Hodges, of Flatwoods, Kentucky.

Tim was a 1980 graduate of Ironton High School and a proud member of the 1979 Ironton State Championship football team. He went on to play football at the University of Akron and entered the United States Army. Upon leaving the military, he became an insurance adjuster and worked the last several years for Kentucky Farm Bureau, where he retired in 2018.

Tim enjoyed spending time with friends, playing guitar, watching his children play sports and performing artistically. He was so proud of all of their accomplishments. Tim fought hard for two years and nine months against his cancer diagnosis, and he did his best to there for his children through this time.

In addition to his wife and children, Tim is survived by his sister, Dana Hodges; and brother Ralph Hodges, both of Columbia, South Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews, a great-nephew, several cousins; and a host of life-long friends.

Tim requested no services. Instead, he wanted people to spend special time with their loved ones.

His children request special notes of memories, which they can keep in remembrance of their father.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made to St. Joseph High School or Flyer Club Sports, at 912 S. Sixth St., Ironton, Ohio 45638, where his youngest son still attends and plays sports, surrounded by a very supportive group of friends, teaches, staff, and families.

Carolyn Horner

Carolyn L. Madden Horner, 67, of Kitts Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband, James Horner.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be 2 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Seth Johnson

Seth Adam Johnson, 32, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2020.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow at Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. Visitation will be 1–2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Judy Carrico

Judy Ann Salmons Carrico, 68, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Hill Cemetery. Burial will follow. No visitation will be held.
