WILLOW WOOD — When you’re hot, you’re hot.

The Symmes Valley Vikings shot a sizzling 61 percent from the field as they coasted past the Sciotoville East Tartans 81-48 Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We came out and shot the ball extremely well.,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller. “We had a lot of fast-breaks off steals. We made good passes and got out for layups.”

The Vikings were 18 of 23 from the field the first half as they built a 27-point halftime lead. They finished the game 36 of 59 from the floor including 6 of 14 from the 3-point line.

Symmes Valley (10-3, 5-2) had four players in double figures led by Luke Taylor who scored 21 including 3of 3 from behind the arc. He also had six rebounds, seven steals and five assists.

Josh Craft scored 16 points to go with four rebounds and four assists. D.J. Miller had 13 points while Alec Herrell scored 11.

Justin Crager scored 13 and Patrick Bias 10 for East.

The Vikings opened the game with 15 unanswered points as they took a 21-7 lead.

Taylor hit three trifectas in the second quarter and scored 13 points as the Vikings built a 46-19 halftime cushion.

Craft hit a pair of triples and scored eight points in the third quarter as the lead grew to 68-29 and Fuller emptied his bench for the rest of the game.

Symmes Valley plays at Portsmouth Clay Friday in a pivotal SOC game.
