HANGING ROCK — A man was killed early Tuesday morning after he was struck by at least one vehicle on U.S. 52.
It occurred in the east bound lane near Rock Hollow Road intersection.
The Lawrence County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Robert Allen Nance, 45, of Pedro.
The cause of death has not been released at this time pending a completion of the investigation.
Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said he got a call just before 7 a.m. about a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
“It appears the person was struck initially by a vehicle and then possibly by up to two other vehicles after the initial hit,” Lawless said, adding that it was foggy and raining at the time of the collision. “It would have been difficult to see anyone. It appears at this time to just be a tragic accident.”
He said he didn’t have many details yet since the investigation is still going on.
The incident happened in Hanging Rock Police Department’s jurisdiction and the Ohio State Highway Patrol to help with the investigation.
