PEDRO — If this was baseball season, the Rock Hill Redmen would be trying to get Raisel Iglesias on their roster.
The Redmen could use a closer as they failed to put away Oak Hill on Friday as the Oaks rallied late for a 63-58 win.
“We played really well. We just couldn’t close the game,” said Rock Hill coach Gordy Collins. “We gave them too many second opportunities to Hammond and then Hanning had a big fourth quarter.”
Owen Hankins led the Redmen with 19 points and Braden Stamper scored 18.
Chase Hammond had a game-high 25 points and Drew Hanning scored 22 points for Oak Hill.
Stamper hit a 3-pointer and scored 7 points in the first quarter as the game was tied at 11. Hammond scored 6 points for the Oaks.
Hammond and Hanning scored 6 points each in the second quarter as the Oaks went up 26-24 at the half.
Owen Hankins had 6 points and Logan Hankins had 5 as Rock Hill stayed close.
Both Stamper and Owen Hankins each hit 3-pointers and scored 7 points in the third quarter and Logan Hankins added 4 more as the Redmen rallied to take 42-37 lead.
In the fourth quarter, Stamper and Owen Hankins had 4 points each and Garrett Miller hit a trey as Rock Hill took a 58-54 lead with 1:40 to play.
But the Oaks went on a 9-0 run to close the game and get the win.
Logan Hines scored all 7 of his points including a 3-pointer for the Oaks while Hanning had 13 points including 7-of-7 at the foul line.
Rock Hill plays Ironton at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
