Greater Faith Apostolic Church and American Legion Post 433 will be providing free thanksgiving meals to the needy on Wednesday.

The Jared Murphy Food Challenge Giveaway will take place at the church, located at 1305 S. Sixth St. in Ironton.

The challenge was named in honor of the brother of Tony Murphy, of the Legion, who organized the effort. Jared passed away earlier this year.

Organizers have collected food donations and the drive has brought in 2,000 canned items and nearly 150 frozen turkeys.

Take home dinners to prepare will be available for pick up at the church from noon-4 p.m., while a hot Thanksgiving meal will be served from 2-5 p.m. at the Legion post, located at 310 S. Third St. in Ironton.
