Theater is asset to city

The Ro-Na Theater in Ironton has been getting good use these last few weeks.
First, it served as the centerpiece of the weekend Wizardfest events, where it was remade into the Great Hall for the Harry Potter-themed festival.
Eventgoers could enjoy workshops, such as wand dueling, presenters such as Gary Bussa, who brought his collection of reptiles and other animals to show, or improvisational comedy shows from the Potterverse actors who came to the festival.
Wizardfest drew thousands to downtown, and the Ro-Na got the vast bulk of that crowd.
Then, the next weekend, the theater was packed again, as it hosted the Road Hawk Magazine Tattoo Show.
This event saw a steady turnout for its two-day run as well.
Since its restoration began, the theater has served the city of Ironton well, hosting events from wrestling to concerts to beauty pageants. It has become a vital staple of downtown.
And the restoration work continues.
Coming up is the annual Breakfast with Santa, hosted by Friends of Ironton, set for Dec. 14, with proceeds going back into refurbishing the theater.
We encourage everyone to go by and contribute to maintaining this gem for our community.
