HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — You can’t stop the Chesapeake Panthers’ offense, you can only hope to contain it.
Okay, so containing it is becoming a big problem, too.
The Chesapeake Panthers continued to unleash their potent offense on opponents as they routed the Spring Valley Timberwolves 83-47 Thursday in the semifinals of the Huntington St. Joe Invitational Gold Division.
Chesapeake (10-1) will now play Ironton at 9 p.m. Saturday in the championship game of the bracket. The Panthers beat Ironton 78-70 earlier this season.
The Panthers had four players in double figures led by Colin Kennedy and Austin McMaster with 18 points each. Patrick Hintz had a career-high 15 points and Eric Kennedy came off the bench to score 12.
Nathan Copley just missed double figures with nine points and also had seven rebounds. McMaster also had six rebounds and six assists.
Eli Parker scored 18 and Hunter Waugh 11 to lead the T-Wolves (4-6).
The Panthers had a normal start as they took a 17-7 first quarter lead, but the offense went into overdrive in the second quarter by scoring 32 points and taking a 49-20 halftime cushion.
Hintz scored 13 of his points in the second quarter explosion including seven in a 15-3 run that broke the game open.
The Panthers outscored Spring Valley 20-12 in the third quarter to lead 69-32.
