Rock Hill’s Baker 28th at Div. 3 state XC meet

HEBRON — This “Baker” was really cookin’.
Rock Hill Redmen senior Eli Baker turned in his personal best time and he picked the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Division 3 state cross country meet as the time to do it.
The state meet was held at National Trail Raceway on Saturday as Rock Hill was making the program’s fourth appearance in the state meet.
Baker finished 28th in the field of 181 runners with a time of 16:46.3. Baker ran a 17:17.1 in the regional meet last week.
Baker’s performance in the state meet earned him All-Ohio honors.
Summitt Country Day won the team championship with 98 points followed by Southeast regional champion Mount Gilead with 112, East Canton 141, McDonald 184 and Cedarville had 200 points for fifth place.
Rock Hill was 15th in the 20-team field with 327 points.
“This was a great group. They were very hard workers,” said Redmen coach Mark McFann.
Senior Jassun Aguilera was No. 59 with a 17:13.4 time, junior Noah Wood ran a 17:51.5, senior Nick Blankenship had a 17:59.6 clocking, senior Brady Floyd turned in an 18:17.3 time, freshman Sam Simpson posted an 18:39.7 and senior Blake Waller was clocked at 20:20.5 to round out the Rock Hill scoring.
Fairland Dragons’ senior Ethan Lafon was 75th in the field with a 17:26.0 clocking. Lafon was 19th in the regional meet to qualify as an individual for the state meet.
