LLOYD, Ky. — Jackson Rowe thought it was so nice, he did it twice.
Rowe pulled off a double hat trick on Saturday as he led the St. Joseph Flyers to an 8-0 soccer win over the Greenup County Musketeers.
Rowe had the regular three goals hat trick and then added three assists to complete a double hat trick.
“Jackson Rowe had an excellent game. I don’t remember a St. Joe player ever recording a hat trick in goals and assists in the game. He is a terrific student/athlete who represents the school wel,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.
The win also marked the Flyers’ sixth shutout of the season.
“Our defense haled strong again. It was a total team effort. The team kept us in a good position to succeed with lots of possessions and shots,” said Balestra.
Jimmy Mahlmeister took time to leave his usual goalkeeper duties and scored two goals. Zach Roach also had two goals and Ryan Payne added the final goal.
Besides Rowe, Bryce Balestra, Jared Johnson, Mathew Sheridan, Max Weber and Roach all had assists.
Michael Mahlmeister, Nick Pauley and Jimmy Mahlmeister combined for five saves as they shared goalkeeper duties.
