John Donald “J.D.” Newman

KITTS HILL — John Donald “J.D.” Newman, 75, of Kitts Hill, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at his residence. The Proctorville native was born Jan. 23, 1935, the son of the late Harry C. and Lola Belle Newman.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice Barnhart Newman, whom he married July 10, 2008.

Mr. Newman was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant Schools and was a self-employed well driller and plumber. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved animals and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Newman and Harry Carl Newman Jr.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John “Rick” and Mary Newman of Ironton; five grandchildren: Derek Newman, Amelia Newman, Corey Newman, Caleb Newman, and Casey Newman all of Ironton; five brothers and sisters-in-law: James and Betty Newman of Wheelersburg, William and Linda Newman of Sandusky, Frank and Sue Newman of Wheelersburg, Sam and Barbara Newman of Rockcamp, and Charles “Pete” and Phyllis Newman of Ironton; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Elberta and Raymond Emmens of South Carolina, Daisy and Bill Brammer of Rockcamp, Betty Newman of Ironton, and Doris Taylor, of Kitts Hill.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Rev. Dale Knipp officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net
