3 plead not guilty to charges in toddler death

Three people pleaded not guilty to charges related to the January overdose death of a 2-year-old Ironton boy, who was later found to have fentanyl in his system, in the courtroom of Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Andy Ballard this week.
The case began on Jan. 27 when Ironton police responded to the toddler, who was found dead in an Ironton apartment. The boy’s mother, Casey Boggess, her boyfriend, David Large, and Jonathan Rice, who supplied the fentanyl, all pleaded not guilty to multiple charges.
• Casey Boggess, 28, of 424 N. Second St., Apt. B, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter, all first-degree felonies, corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony, aggravated possession of drugs (fentanyl), a fifth-degree felony, and two counts of endangering children, one third-degree felony and one first-degree misdemeanor. Ballard set bond at $150,000 cash or surety and $150,000 OR. Pretrial was set for March 20.
• David Large, 37, of 424 N. Second St., Apt. B, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter, all first-degree felonies, corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony, aggravated possession of drugs (fentanyl), a fifth-degree felony, and two counts of endangering children, one third-degree felony and one first-degree misdemeanor.
