Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 will install overhead signs at the Ohio River bridges crossing into Ohio at Brown, Scioto and Lawrence counties, requiring short-term closure of the structures each night this week.
The following restrictions will be in effect as outlined below:
Wednesday, Feb. 6: The Carl Perkins Bridge (State Route 852) between South Portsmouth, Kentucky and U.S. 52 and the U.S. Grant Bridge (U.S. 23) between South Shore, Kentucky, and Portsmouth in Scioto County.
Thursday Feb. 7: The William Harsha Bridge (U.S. 62) between Maysville, Kentucky and Aberdeen in Brown County and the Oakley C. Collins Bridge (State Route 93) between Russell, Kentucky and Ironton in Lawrence County.
Friday, Feb. 8: The Nick Joe Rahall Bridge (U.S. 52) and the Robert C. Byrd Bridge (State Route 527/6th Street) Bridge between Huntington, West Virginia and Chesapeake; and the Frank Gatski Memorial Bridge (State Route 106/State Route 775) between Huntington and Proctorville in Lawrence County.
Each bridge will be closed for up to 45 minutes while the signs are being installed at the given location, and the closures will occur at any time between 9 and 11 p.m.
During periods of closure, traffic will be controlled by crews from A&A Safety and law enforcement officials, and as the closures will be for limited durations, there will be no posted detour. Motorists, however, are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delay.
